Coordinates of Humanity explores human connections through time, geography, and emotion.

The circular composition represents unity and the cyclical nature of infinity. The double frame defines the boundaries of the piece while breaking the whole. The division of concentric circles symbolize the dialogue between the individual and the larger collective.

At its core, the inner frame highlights Africa, the cradle of humanity, while the outer frame marks the extreme coordinates of the continent (37° N, 34° S, 17° W, 51° E). Africa serves as the epicenter from which threads emerge, weaving our stories and linking our past, present, and a shared future.

Above, a multitude of red threads converges to form a thick, symbolic umbilical cord. These threads embody the essence of our collective origin—on their own, fragile—yet together, they represent the unbreakable bonds that unite humanity. This cord speaks of connection, of the life that flows through generations, binding us to one another, and to the very act of existence.

Created on linen adhered to a wooden panel, the map, textured with acrylic, reflects the diversity of our geographies; the smaller sea, painted in oil, flows with emotion, symbolizing the currents that shape our collective history. Interwoven cotton threads represent relationships—delicate yet essential, living and constantly evolving.

Coordinates of Humanity invites viewers to reflect on the resilience of human relationships in overcoming divisions and building an inclusive future—a reminder that we are part of something greater: a profoundly interconnected humanity.
